NEW DELIVERY OF REACH MOWERS FOR KOLDING MUNICIPALITY

Kolding/Gravens Maskinforretning have recently sold a selection of Spearhead reach mowers to Kolding Municipality for the maintenance of the grass verges, hedges and embankments within the region.

Kolding Municipality decided to invest in three new reach mowers, a Twiga Flex and two smaller Twiga 320 models which are both front mounted. Covering a total area of 640km² with 18 cities and towns in the district, the vegetation team have a considerable task on their hands. Within this area each operator covers approximately 32km a day ensuring sidewalks within the towns and cities are clear of vegetation, fenced areas are maintained and hedges and verges are cleanly cut.

Morton Sparre, contract manager at Kolding Municipality, explained ‘having previously run Spearhead Twiga 3000s without any problems we knew these were the machines for us. The Twiga 320’s were chosen because they are compact and easy to manoeuvre in urban areas and having purchased them with both a flailhead and a cutter bar they are a winner amongst our team’.

The Twiga Flex was purchased with Autopilot to run within their fleet on the main roads and highways for verge mowing. Morton commented, ‘one of the great advantages of the Flex is that you are able to run the flail head in line with the tractor cab which gives incredible visibility for the driver in addition the Auto Pilot has definitely increased working speed and operator comfort’.

‘The Spearhead Autopilot system is an advanced automatic hands free control system which follows the ground contours when verge mowing’ explained Mark Bayliss, Spearhead Export Regional Sales Manager, ‘automatically controlling the flailhead the system helps reduce operator fatigue and improves the efficiency of the reach mower’.
