GreenTec launches Scorpion 490 PLUS: Compact boom mower with long reach and significantly more power

GreenTec A/S is expanding its popular Scorpion series with a powerful new addition: the Scorpion 490 PLUS featuring a 4.9 meter reach. This compact yet versatile boom mower is designed for municipalities, contractors, and service providers who often work in confined spaces but require extended reach to complete tasks efficiently.
“With the Scorpion 490 PLUS, users get a machine that combines low weight and high strength with a more powerful hydraulic system. This provides smooth joystick control, more precise mowing, and higher daily capacity,” says John Christensen, Founder and Head of Product Development at GreenTec.
More muscle, same maneuverability
- New, more powerful hydraulic system with increased oil flow and pressure for stable operation and higher cutting capacity, especially in dense vegetation.
- AHC, Automatic Height Control (optional) helps the operator maintain a consistent working height over the terrain, improving comfort and reducing machine wear.
- Danfoss Prof 1 joystick ensures intuitive, precise control and ergonomic handling during long workdays.
- Strenx® 700 high-strength steel reduces overall machine weight while significantly increasing durability.
- RotorFlex (270° rotating cutting head) and Hybrid arm system come as standard, providing flexible positioning of the cutting head and easy maneuvering.
Designed for tight spaces on a busy work schedule
The Scorpion 490 PLUS is perfectly suited for compact tractors weighing 2.5 – 4.0 tons and is ideal for mowing along cycle paths, sidewalks, in residential areas, cemeteries, and other locations where maneuverability and operator visibility are crucial.
A wide range of tools for grass, hedge, and brush work makes the machine suitable for year-round use, from coarse mowing and verge maintenance to hedge and shrub care.
The boom mower is available PTO-driven for front and rear mounting, as well as in a basic version powered by the hydraulic system of a tractor or loader.

Premiere at Agritechnica 2025
The Scorpion 490 PLUS will be presented for the first time at Agritechnica 2025, at GreenTec’s booth in Hall 26, H31. Visitors can explore the new model, get an explanation of the AHC system, and discover a wide range of tools for year-round operations.
