Ditch and Verge Mowing

Our flail mowers, the FR series, are ideal for maintaining grass along roadsides, bike paths, and highways. These tasks are often handled by municipalities or local subcontractors. The FR flail mower combined with one of our efficient boom mowers gives you full control over verge mowing. It provides you with the ultimate reach, allowing you to extend up to 8 meters from the tractor. This makes the entire job much easier and can be done in a single pass. Our arm mowers can be equipped with Automatic Height Control, a feature that makes the job even easier. The flail mower will automatically adjust to the ground height, meaning you can focus on driving while the flail mower follows the contour of the terrain.

How does a flail mower for tractors work?

If you already have a tractor, loader, or excavator, you are well on your way to being able to use a flail mower. It involves driving your tractor and letting the flail mower follow the terrain. A GreenTec flail mower can be mounted on almost any type of tractor, loader, or excavator. The type of flail mower depends on the size of your machine. For example, if you are using a smaller excavator, our flail mower for mini excavators would be the ultimate solution. Combined with a boom mower for mini tractors, you will achieve incredible flexibility in your tasks. You will get a reach of up to 3.3 meters from your tractor and stable, precise cutting throughout the operation.

A GreenTec flail mower itself is a motor driven by a hydraulic pump that rotates several powerful flail heads at such a speed that the grass is cut very precisely. The hydraulic pump is connected to your vehicle, providing the correct pressure to leave a beautiful cutting result. Our flail mowers can easily cut both tall and thick grass, not only because of the powerful motor but also due to the high-quality flail heads, which make the cutting incredibly sharp.

How effective is a flail mower for tractors?

Our flail mowers are produced here in Denmark and constructed from Strenx steel. Strenx steel is one of the world’s most durable types of steel. This ensures that your flail mower has an extended lifespan and requires minimal maintenance. When you start the mower, you will quickly notice that the robust steel provides increased stability. This not only makes the work more comfortable in the cab but also results in sharper and more precise cutting. Produced with a powerful motor, the result is consistent. Our smallest flail mower operates at 40L/min @ 210 bar, and our largest flail mower at 85L/min @ 230 bar. This is because the larger the flail mower, the stronger the motor. However, always match your purchase of a flail mower to the size of your tractor and the scope of the task. The strongest motor is not always necessary for smaller tasks. If you are in doubt, let us advise you according to your needs.

We recommend operating our flail mowers at 5-7 km/h. This speed helps to achieve a consistent result throughout the operation, and speeds above this risk damaging the flail mower.
